About

A small magazine for people who like to think about the tools they use.

We don't chase news. We chase the ideas that don't get explained well enough the first time around.

SuggestByte started as a private notes file. Somewhere between the seventh re-read of an old post and a half-finished draft, it became clear that the writing was more useful than the side project it was supposed to support. So we made it public.

What you'll find here

  • Long-form essays on a single idea, written to be read twice.
  • Notes from real engineering work — what broke, what got replaced, what we wish we'd known.
  • Occasional reviews of tools, but only the ones we've actually used long enough to have an opinion.

What you won't find

No "10 Best Laptops for Developers" roundups. No AI-generated content. No banner ads pretending to be articles. We'd rather publish one good piece a fortnight than five forgettable ones a day.

Stay in touch

The best way to follow along is the RSS feed. If you have a response to something we published, write back — every piece has an email at the bottom.
